Rosy Afsari was a Bangla movie actress. She was mostly known as the supporting roles she played over the years. She had a bright presence in both Bangla and Urdu movies. She received multiple awards in her lifetime. She is one of a pioneer as a woman director in Bangla movie.

Personal Life :

In the movie world, this actress was known as Rosy Samad or Rosy Afsari. However, her real name was Shamima Akhter Rosy. Rosy was born in 23^rd April 1949 in Laxmipur, Bangladesh. She married filmmaker Malek Afsari. Malek was 20 years younger than Rosy. They married in 18^th June 1985. This couple had two children. One was son Robi Afsari and the second one was Kobita Samad.

Rosy was suffering from Kidney problem for a long time. She fought for life for four years after both of her kidneys were damaged. This actress died in 9^th March 2007 at the age of 57.

Career:

Rosy Afsari started her career as a movie actress in the movie “Joyar Elo” (1962), directed by Abdul Zobbar Khan. However, Rosy came under the spotlight from the movie “Alor Michil”. The movie was directed by Narayan Gosh Mita. She had an important character in this movie where she supported a freedom fighter. Jibon theke neya, Titas Ekti Nodir Nam are some of her other famous movies.

This endowed actress acted in more than 350 movies. She also had a bright presence in Urdu movies. She worked in 25 Urdu movies as well. “Jago hua Savera” (1959), “Punom Ki Raat (1966) are her popular Urdu movies.

Rosy Afsari is also the first woman movie director. She came out as a movie director in 1986. She directed “Nirasha” movie. however, this was also her last movie as a director. Meanwhile, from organization “Rosy Films” she involved as a producer in multiple movies.
