Biography: Movie Director Mostofa Sarwar Farooki

Mostofa Sarwar Farooki is a Bangladesh TV drama and movie director and producer. He is also one of the best TV commercial director in Bangladesh. Farooki created his own group of a fan with his unique type of direction. He was able to create a separate impression in each work. Each work of Farooki was like a storytelling of daily life chores. Mostofa tried to introduce daily life way of talking or realism in his work instead focus on scripted language. It made him so popular. Also, he was able to create such an emotional environment around his work which made his work such unique. This director has received numerous awards from different corners of the world.

Personal Life:

Farooki born on May 2, 1975, at Nakhalpara in Dhaka. Since childhood, he brought up in Dhaka. Since his childhood, Farooki was passionate about media and watched a lot of movies whenever he got a chance. Mostofa married Tisha, a popular model, actress in 2010 after had a 5 years’ relationship.

Career:

Despite Farooki’s high interest in movie direction, he started his career as a TV drama director. His first directed movie was “Waiting Room”, aired in 1999. First, this drama was submitted at Ekushay TV (ETV) but rejected. Later, ETV authority selected it to air.

Litterateur Anisul Haque and Mostofa Sarwar Farooki are worked together in different incidents. Their partnership provided some special TV drama in Bangladesh television history. Anisul’s style of writing and Mostofa’s focus on realism direction produced the drama. The way of Mostofa’s direction attracted youth massively and it changed the perspective of Bangla TV drama. 420, ekannobarti. Keram, 69, Uposhonghar, Tal Patar shepai were some of his notable TV drama work. As per Farooki, for TV drama, he wanted to make Video Film rather than a regular television program.

Farooki involved in Movie:

Farooki’s first movie was “Bachelor”, released in 2003. In this movie, he followed a similar pattern of realism as he used in drama. It was unacceptable to a group of people though highly appreciated by youth. He followed this trend in his next movie “Made in Bangladesh (2007)” and got a similar reaction as well. His third movie was “Third Person Singular Number (2009)”. His next movies were “Television (2012)”, “Piprabidya (2014)” and “Doob (2017)”. All of his movies were highly praised in the international arena. He received a massive support from his fan group as well.

Issues with “Doob”: “Doob:

No Bed of Roses” is one of a major addition of Farooki’s career. Internationally recognized “Irfan Khan” played an important role in this movie. However, Farooki faced a massive backlash regarding this movie that it was inspired by the life story of “Humayn Ahmed”. Humayun Ahmed was the most prominent litterateur in Bangladesh in the modern era.

The family members of Humayun Ahmed claimed it was done without their permission. Despite the fact, Mostofa denied the fact but as the story was out so the attraction towards this movie lost massively before released.

Foundation of Chabial:

Farooki founded a filmmaking club “Chabial” with the group of assistant directors he had. These people follow almost similar realism pattern in their work as well. However, all these people individually showed their capability in their work. Redwan Rony is one of the popular members of this club.

Mostofa Sarwar Farooki is internationally highly recognized person and received numerous awards around the globe.
