Biography: Bangladeshi Movie Actress Champa

Champa is the sister of other two famous actress Suchanda and Bobita. She is the youngest one. Like her other two sisters, she was able to create her own space in Bangladesh movie industry. She did dominate the industry and won multiple awards. Despite her elder sisters’ strong footfall in Dhallywood, she brought herself out from others shadow to build her own fan group. Champa acted in more than 100 movies so far. She wishes to involve in movie production in the future.

Personal Life:

Gulshan Ara Akter Champa was born in the 1950’s. Her birthplace was in Jessore. She has come from an iconic family. Nizamuddin Ataub and B.J. Ara are her parents. Her father was a Government officer and mother was a doctor. Her family was highly involved in early Bangla movie and had strong footfall in the industry. Champa’s elder two sisters Suchanda and Bobita established themselves as the icon of the industry. Also, her brother in law was Zahir Raihan who was one of the most influential people in Bangla movie industry. Apart from her two sisters, she had two brothers who are also established in their life. She also had a family relationship with Riaz, Omar Sunny, and Moushumi.

Champa married in 1982. Her husband is Shahidul Islam Khan. He is a businessman. Champa’s daughter name is “Esha”. Esha lives in Canada. Nowadays Champa passes most of her time in Canada with her daughter.

Career:

Champa never had the intention to be a movie actress rather she wanted to be a model. However, there were some rumor in there that Champa was not as talented as her elder sisters. She wanted to prove herself. It resulted her to work in more than 100 movies eventually.

Champa started her career as a model. Then she introduced herself to TV drama in 1981. The dram was Dub Satar, telecasted in BTV. After her first appearance, she had been offered by multiple new TV shows and involved in Akash Bariye Dao, Anno Ekti Meye, Ekhane Nongor, Bariye Dao, Sahabjadir Kalo Nekab, Khola Daroja, Apoya, and others.

However, her first appearance in the movie was in “Tin Konna”. This was a movie from “Shibli Sadik” released on in 1986. She worked with other two of her sisters (Suchanda and Bobita) in this movie. She played the role of “Police Officer”. In the next year, she worked in a movie named “Nishpap” with Alamgir.

Champa groundbreaking work portrayed in the Indo-Bangladesh movie “Padma Nadir Majhi”, directed by Goutom Gose. She played the role of “Mala” in this movie. This movie from 1993, brought her the national award. She was involved in this industry for more than 12 years and involved herself in more than 100 movies. Later she left this industry as she could not find any suitable character herself. She passed her golden period as an actress during 1990 till late 90’s. She was considered as the Sridevi of Bangladesh.
