Biography: Bangladeshi Actress Suchanda

Sunchanda is one of the brightest stars in mid-1960’s in Bangladeshi movie industry. She was a film actress and director. Apart from her Husband, “Zahir Raihan”, her two sisters “Bobita” and “Champa” are also legends in Bangladesh movie industry. She won several awards in her life as actress and director.

Personal Life:

Suchanda came from a film passionate family. ASM Nizamuddin and Begum Jahan Ara were her parents. Her full name is “Kohinoor Akhter”. She was born in “19th September 1947 in Jessore, Khulna, Bangladesh. She passed HSC from “The Dhaka City College”. Sunchanda’s family gave Bangladesh movie industry three biggest superstars of all time. Along with Suchanda, her two sisters Bobita and Champa are the two most iconic figure in Bangladesh. Her cousin “Riaz” is also one of the most popular figures in Bangladeshi movie industry.

She married Zahir Raihan during 1968. Zahir Raihan was a prominent filmmaker at that time. After the death of Zahir, she married to M Reazaul Malik during 1976. She has one son from the first marriage and three daughters and a son from the second marriage.

Career:

Suchandha started her acting career in a documentary film by Kazi Khaleque in 1964. During 1965, she debuted in a film of Subhash Dutta, named “Kagojer Nouka”. She came under limelight while she acted in “Behula” movie in the opposite of “Razzak”, a film directed by “Zahir Raihan”. Still, now people remember her as “Behula Konna” (Behula Girl). Behula was based on Hindu mythological story. She acted with some icons of Bangladesh movie industry, such as “Golam Mustafa”, “Azim” etc.

Apart from acting she also involved with movie producing and directing. Her first movie production was “Tin Kanna” in 1985. Her production house was “Suchanda Cholochitra”. Also, her first movie as a director was “Bidesh Jatra”.
